Tailings Infrastructure
Jolu features a lined tailings dam and fully permitted Tailings Management Facility. It has been used for tailing storage since 1973. Until 2014, tailings were placed within the JAG TMF (Tailings Management Facility). The facility was designed to temporarily manage tailings until the primary tailings storage facility, the Mallard TMF, was federally approved (2011) as a Tailings Impoundment Area (TIA). Matrixset intends to utilize dry stack tailings in the future to reduce environmental impact and space requirements.
